‘Breaking Dawn’ collection is inspired by legendary American surfer MARGO GODFREY (born 1953).
She was the first professional woman surfer, having started surfing professionally in the 1970s. She is considered the first big wave female surfer. She won the first prize money ever collected by a woman for surfing.
Margo told People Magazine in 1977: ‘There are ten really famous male surfers in the world, and one really famous female surfer. That’s me. I was to ride the biggest waves any woman has ever ridden.’
The designs feature graphic patterns of a half circle motif and rays in
multi-colours, representing the sun rising or setting on the horizon early in the morning or at dusk.
The name of each individual garment is based on the exact time of sunrise and sunset on the first day of each month in California, where Margo Godfrey would have practised big wave surfing.
